A Vampire Ballad

He’s tall, he’s thin, he smiles his grin.
What beauty this man defines.
She’s blond, she’s fair, she’s here, she’s there,
but this man she’s always behind.
Then gazes lock and love is met,
for what they’ve started they don’t regret.
He stares into her jewels, which shine so magically bright.
Lost she is in his eyes, as black as a moonless night.
When there it is, that great secret kept,
a monster within, that monster she’s met.
How can such love and passion be present,
in the disfigured man crouching over a pheasant?
So much blood and so many dead,
yet with all these reasons, she has not fled.
The yearning for her beating soul,
had tainted his vision as black as coal,
but the love in her eyes
brought him back with surprise.
She was the one in life’s endeavor,
for she was his, for now and forever.
