Finally went and saw Man of Steel on Thursday. I was so pleased, it kicked Superman Returns in the face. Christopher Nolan did an excellent job directing. Like his Batman movies it was definitely dark. I appreciated more backstory on Krypton and Zod at the beginning. Hans Zimmer's score was epic, I did find myself missing the Superman Theme though, but I can see why they left it out. With a movie so dark you would have to completely turn around the style of music as well with is what the creators did for the Batman trilogy as well.Metropolis.... I'm not sure how they will come back from that. The complete city was leveled to the ground but of coarse at the end when Clark get's his press badge out in the windows all the buildings are there and fine. I only wonder what happened to Superman taking the fight away from the people? If you are expecting color, it doesn't have a whole lot. As a Smallville fan I quite enjoy color and I enjoyed seeing many cameo's of people that had acted in Smallville, such as the military guy at the beginning who played Emil Hamilton in Smallville, and one of Zod's men, the old guy- played an old clone of Lex Luthor in Smallville, and of coarse Amy Adams herself who played a teen trying to loose weight with kryptonite infected vegetable drinks. I was a little worried with her cast as Lois Lane after seeing her play in Enchanted but for the way the film played out she did a great job. The movie was cast quite well in my opinion- and so concludes my review of an epic film of an epic icon.
